We delivered our 2nd Gull Wing Piaggio Ape 50 coffee van this week to Cafe Kegra in sunny Southend, Dan has the kegra piaggio scooter dealership in Southend so knows how cool these little 50cc moto’s are.
We designed and printed the graphics for Dan’s coffee van at our HQ in Newcastle upon Tyne, Dan wanted to keep with the Italian theme, so we came up with the “tricolore” The 3 colours that represent Italy and turned them in to tyre tracks. 3 colours – 3 wheels – 3 tracks !! The design looks great as you can still see parts of the tyre tracks running over the vehicle once the doors are open – very quirky !

well . i supose you have to learn by your mistakes, i did, doing this in the 70s with a vespa engine, but there is no exscuse these days. take a pefectly good lambretta and vandalise it, its not exactly a good demonstartion in engineering, i did it when i was 18 years fo/ol'd. no one will want this "project", it will be like riding a SYM or other gutless two stroke, maybe a honda KDX 210 or KTM 250 water-cooled top end and the lambretta crankcase, this is old hat and rather annoying actually. an ill thought out and very ill advised "project" for want of a better phrase. shame to see another lambretta end up this way, people have just about stopped doing this in the UK, some young kids with no understanding or respect for lambretta's might do the "odd" one , but thats it. don't throw away the bits you grind off, at some point in the future someone will reverse this, i seen a load lately returned to full bodied lambretta engined scooters . . .its now worthless and useless, it will be massively underpowered unless you go the whole hog and mallosi kit it, with variatronic etc, (see Kegra scooters , england) they do a series 5 lambretta (done properly) with 40BHP typhoon engine for girls who cant master clutch and gear changes.. one thing thats going to be a problem here, is VIBRATION . . its not just the lambretta engine that behaves badly in a lambretta frame, its all two stroke engines !! beware without a lot of knowledge and thought in to the engine mounts alone, it will be unusable, handling as well !! . . the lambretta engine is designed to move nearly 2 inches from right to left of center of back wheel for good reasons, a rigid engine will throw up (and might throw you off) lots of problems .....
